Deborah Weeks started playing the piano at a young age. At the age of 10, she entered a local piano competition and earned first, second and third place in the duet categories. She is classically trained through the Royal Conservatory of Toronto and has since incorporated various other genres into her playing style.
After high school, she studied at Western Washington State College where she completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Music. While in college she played the piano, accompanying the senior college choir as well as several individual musicians on different instruments. She also sang in the junior choir.
Her first teaching assignment was Elementary Music Teacher in the Vancouver Washington area where she taught herself to play the guitar to use to accompany, and co-teaching middle school choir where she was the piano accompanist.
Following two more years of teaching, she moved to Southern Oregon where she continued to play the piano and give private lessons. She attended Southern Oregon State College to finish her fifth year for teaching credentials and to also obtain her Oregon Certification. Completing her fifth year gave her part of her Master’s Degree in Education, which she then completed several years later.
After many years of teaching Public School and playing the piano with her local church choir, Deborah retired. However, she continues to share her love of music through private piano lessons with all who share an interest. She includes Music Theory and Music History as well as lessons on a variety of percussion instruments to enhance understanding of different rhythms.
